ia32-libs is a legacy transitional package. No one should be depending on it, and the solution for not installing a bunch of unnecessary libraries on a server is to not use this metapackage.
Use a 32-bit package for whatever software you need, which will pull in the 32-bit libraries it uses directly instead of via ia32-libs. Or if you have an application that isn't packaged, you can still select the libraries you need one-by-one to install the :i386 versions of the libraries. ** Changed in: ia32-libs (Ubuntu) Status: New => Won't Fix -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1218296 Title: non-sense dependencies for a server To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ia32-libs/+bug/1218296/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
