Issue is occurring on an old platform, even with 'simple' commands like svn --help, svn--version:
cat /proc/cpuinfo gives CPU Family 15 model 2 Mobile Intel (R) Pentium(R) 4 (ie this problem is occuring on a 32 bit system). which is in an HP nx9010 laptop. Lubuntu 12.10 is a fresh (done yesterday) install from the 'Alternate' CD (Oct 2012), plus ~200MBytes of updates from 'update-manager', AND the additional packages needed to install / use OpenWRT (all from the default Ubuntu repositories apart from 'jikes' which was downloaded direct from Debian). # lsb_version -rd Description: Ubuntu 12.10 Release: 12.10 # svnadmin --version svnadmin, version 1.7.5 (r1336830) compiled Jun 22 2013, 03:54:33 Copyright (C) 2012 The Apache Software Foundation.
