It sounds like a Sauce patch could be the cause of the regression. Can you test the following Ubuntu kernels on your current Precise install:
Current Precise: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/precise/+source/linux/3.2.0-51.77 Current Quantal: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/quantal/+source/linux/3.5.0-37.58 Current Raring: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/raring/+source/linux/3.8.0-27.40 The kernel .debs can be found under the section "Builds" for your arch on the previous pages. I expect the bug to show up in the Current Quantal. If it does, we can test some earlier Quantal kernels to identify exactly when it was introduced. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1201528 Title: [Realtek ALC889] - Audio Playback Unavailable To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/1201528/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
