Also, I had some major issues with 13.04 and stuck with 12.04 because it runs 
flawlessly.  All the core will be kept up to date, only the LXDE components 
will not be updated.  I had to change a parameter with my graphics card to get 
mine to boot with 13.04... but I agree that it might be best to file a new bug 
on this issue.  
A few last things:  people will likely ask if you have updated your firmware, 
you will need windows to do this (win XP) freeDos doesn't work for this 
computer :(
Make sure you don't have an AMD processor.  running `lspci` from the terminal 
will list components  look for lines containing
"Advanced Micro Devices [AMD]"  if those exist, use the 64 Bit version, as AMD 
makes 64 Bit processors.
I hope your issue is resolved, my old R3000 was thought to be a gonner until I 
put GNU/Linux on it(Sometimes I use puppy on it as well as Ubuntu)!
