i am talking about the dock's usb->sata chipset. So try a different dock. Found some rock solid and some that disconnect.
purchased some dock's a little while ago (all same model) and one would disconnect in minutes under windows and linux and the other would disconnect but would take longer. My test was to md5sum the HDD in the dock. The better one would work for one full pass of the HDD (120GB SSD) but would consistantly fail in windows and linux the second time the test was run. (for windows i would use ftk imager (from accessdata.com downloads (free))) Have you tested it much under windows ?
