I personally use Mutt ONLY for reading mailspools created with tools like OfflineIMAP, and for debugging issues with buggy IMAP and POP3 servers, and hence don't understand why I should be forced to install and manage an MTA that I have no intention of using. The MTA aspect should be a Recommends, and NOT a Depends. Just like how Mutt functions fine without GnuPG, urlview, ispell, or aspell installed - Mutt functions fine without an MTA installed (aside from sending mail of- course).
