** Description changed: Ubuntu crashes when I try to use ASUS Zenbook UX31E HDMI out (with Asus VS239H). It works nicely with console and LightDM login screen, but when I log in to Ubuntu/Ubuntu2D, screens (external and internal) go blank. Restarting LightDM usually works (works as in "you'll see the LightDM login screen again), but sometimes this hangs the whole system. Things you need to know: 1) lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Release: 12.04 2) apt-cache policy linux-image-3.2.0-24-generic linux-image-3.2.0-24-generic: Installed: 3.2.0-24.37 Candidate: 3.2.0-24.37 Version table: *** 3.2.0-24.37 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise-updates/main amd64 Packages 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise-proposed/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 3) I expect that X doesn't crash and I see output on both (or at least one) displays. 4) X crashes, both screens turn black. Sometimes external monitor turns red. Console usually works after the problem. LightDM has to be restarted. WORKAROUND: echo SATA_ALPM_ENABLE=true | sudo tee /etc/pm/config.d/sata_alpm + --- + ApportVersion: 2.9.2-0ubuntu8.2 + Architecture: amd64 + AudioDevicesInUse: + USER PID ACCESS COMMAND + /dev/snd/controlC0: jsavikko 3595 F.... pulseaudio + /dev/snd/pcmC0D0p: jsavikko 3595 F...m pulseaudio + CRDA: Error: command ['iw', 'reg', 'get'] failed with exit code 1: nl80211 not found. + DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.04 + MachineType: Dell Inc.
