Public bug reported:

http://i42.tinypic.com/izvrb7.jpg

However, that did not change the fact that after 10 minutes, my monitor
goes off.

And what makes this really odd, my monitor goes off even while I watch
something on VLC or YouTube. So, I have to keep moving the mouse every
now and then.

XScreensaver has been removed from Lubuntu 13.10 (Saucy) so I can't
understand what is going on?
