After fully updating the distribution I tried to activate the proprietary  
driver for that grafic chip once again. Again a failure message told me that 
something went wrong.
Brightness can't be adjusted, but this time the display is bright ... which is 
a bit better ...
Anyway ... it would be great if:
* the 32bit driver would work and brightness could be adjusted
* a 64bit driver would be distributed as well.
