You have been subscribed to a public bug: It seems Ubuntu is locking the media but not releasing/unlocking it after un-mounting. Repro on Ubuntu 12.04 and 12.10 and 13.04.
• Attach .iso to DVD drive via Hyper-V management GUI. • In the guest, mount the DVD media. • Using HYPER-V management GUI, try to unattach the .iso from the DVD drive. Error: Media is currently locked by guest • Inside the guest, issue command: umount /dev/sr0 • From HYPER-V management GUI, try to unattach the .iso from the DVD drive. Error: Media is currently locked by guest. • Eject the DVD with the command: eject /dev/sr0 • HYPER-V management GUI shows no media attached to DVD rom. • Using HYPER-V management GUI, attach a new .iso to DVD rom. Error: Media is currently locked by guest. We are looking into the Hyper-V to see if this is something locked by the host. But so far we haven't been able to repro on CentOS 6.4 and SLES11SP2. This seems to be a Ubuntu only issue. During initial investigate, it seems SCSIOP_MEDIUM_REMOVAL (the emulated IDE translates ATA command to this SCSI command and passes to the optical device driver) is not getting passed or passed with incorrect parameters to the host. Note: Currently DVD is used only on provisioning and failure to release will not result in provision failure. So this is not really a blocker on Windows Azure. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- DVD medium locked and not released by Ubuntu on Windows server 2012 and OS133/134 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1177148 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
