On May 3rd i couldn't shut down or suspend as described above. I tried several cold boots on the day. Today -- 8 May -- I no longer experience these issues. Suspend and resume as well as shut down appear to work as expected. Unfortunately this means I can no longer reproduce the problem and can't use my system to test the upstream kernel as you suggest.
What the hell changed? I apologise for raising a bug that I am no longer able to reproduce myself. uname -a Linux fuji 3.8.0-19-generic #30-Ubuntu SMP Wed May 1 16:35:23 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1176161 Title: Since latest Kernel upgrade I cannot suspend or shut down To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1176161/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
