Forget about it, the kernel update didn't help. Same situation again
like before, after a while the CPU went over 100% usage, the system got
slower and slower until it was freezing completely.

What I tried so far:
- VirtualBox in 3 different versions (4.2.10 Ubuntu package, 4.2.12 package for
Ubuntu from Oracle's repository, 4.1 using the generic installation archive
from virtualbox.org)
- Kernel 3.8.0-10-generic from stock Ubuntu 13.04
- Kernel 3.9.0 from kernel.ubuntu.com (see above)
- disabling all VBox options like PAE/NX, VT-x (incl. disabling it in the
BIOS), IO-APIC
- tried with 2 CPUs, 1 CPU, 50% CPU usage, 100% CPU usage ...
- changing the Chipset from PIIX3 to ICH9 and back
- removed kernel modules kvm_intel and kvm (read somewhere that this might be
the culprit, but it also didn't help)

Nothing helped, the problem came back all the time. Sometimes just
during booting the VM, otherwise after a few minutes of work....

I am really out of ideas here. What can I do to find out what is
freezing my machine? How can I prevent it?
