This sounds like the same issue I've had on a number of servers using x86_64
feisty with a Areca 1160 and 16 500GB+ drives. Install goes fine however on
booting from array the kernel complains of corrupted superblocks on larger TB
filesystem (/dev/sda3).

After a bit of googling tracked issue back to follow ubuntu bug #107326
- parted is creating corrupt gpt labels for large filesystems. Parted on
dapper is able to spot and fix the corruption (grub needs a re-install
after the fix).
