Gnome desktop 3.8
I seams that power settings are just for show:
Set to suspend after 10 minutes on battery, never suspended, exsausted battery.
Closing lid is set to suspend in all cases, nothing suspends, you see even disk 
activity. When opening lid, you get a blank log-in screen.
