Ran "system-config-printer 1.3.12" on fresh install of Lubuntu 13.04 amd64.
system-config-printer dialog says "Printing service not available. Start the service on this computer or connect to another server." Pressing connect brings up a dialog box saying "CUPS server: <localhost>". Pressing connect here yields no joy. Running "sudo start cups" fixes the problem and clicking Connect gives joy. Afterwards, opening system-config-printer does not show the problem message any more. Expected that CUPS would either be running already OR that the dialog box would suggest a method for starting it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1133794 Title: Printer not detected by system-config-printer 1.3.11 in Lubuntu 13.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/system-config-printer/+bug/1133794/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
