Public bug reported: The Installation DVD and also the USB Stick of Ubuntu 13.04 32bit fails to boot on my Acer Aspire One 756. I get a blank black screen with a blinking cursor. Holding the shift key down does not make any difference. I don't see anything on screen between the BIOS summary screen and the black screen. No error message, no ISOLINUX, nothing from grub.
I created the DVD by burning the ISO image onto the disc with cdrecord at the command-line. I created the USB Stick (2GB) with the "Startup DIsk Creator" of Ubuntu 12.04. The older version 12.04 boots without problems from both DVD and USB Stick. I found a way to boot the 13.04 installation medium using grub2 of myolder installed Linux: set root='(hd1)' chainloader +1 Something must be wrong with the ISO image - or my BIOS has a bug.
