This scares me for dapper. The code paths involved are not straightforward so it's not obvious to me how to fix this correctly without potentially breaking other installation methods (for instance if doing an install from USB you might need to probe USB in order to get hold of other disk drivers!). Plus, changing device ordering scares me in general for stable release updates. I think this is one to steer clear of.
