Hi, Just to add some more information if it was not available already. My lone remaining PATA drive died a few weeks back, and I did a clean install of Feisty (7.04) today as follows:
Cold boot, press F8 to select boot menu popup (since default boot order is hard drive first). Boot off the installation CD Install Ubuntu Reboot I experienced no issues - So I suspect the comments by Ralph that it is the PATA/SATA mix is correct.
