Public bug reported:

I have a dual boot ubuntu 12.04 lts and CentOS 6.2 minimal computer. I
am connecting a usb webcam with 10 meter usb extension cable. CentOS was
able to recognize the webcam as /dev/video0 while ubuntu was unable to
recognize it as /dev/video0.

But both are able to recognize webcam when connected directly with out
extension cable.

Is there a problem with ubuntu's usb host controller driver or webcam
driver?
