I also has the same problem with ubuntu kernel 3.5.0-27, the previous version 3.5.0-21 worked fine. My laptop is a Dell Latitude 5420 with sandy bridge chipset and Intel HD3000 VGA. GPU hangs happens once in awhile, after doing some git bisecting, I found that this patch seems to be the cause for the problem:
