I have tried the kernel as well but it did not work.  I am including the
output that Arsen included from my -17 kernel that I am running on the
same machine.

01:05.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI RS780 
[Radeon HD 3200]
02:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI Juniper 
[Radeon HD 5700 Series]

For any other people that haven't done this before, I found this link on
uninstalling old kernels (so I could use the Ubuntu Software Center
without it telling me that I have a newer version installed)
