well seems this does the trick: after above steps, install dconf (i had it already) apt-get install dconf then dconf reset -f /org/compiz/ and unity --reset-icons the last action made unity appear for me. After a reboot all was fine.
I also had similar issues on 12.10, seems unity is a bit sensitive here. The workaround of using 3.04 is ok for now. In general these issue caused me a lot of installation issues, which will prevent less tech-savvy users from using Ubuntu! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1166007 Title: nvidia-310 310.32-0ubuntu2: nvidia-310 kernel module failed to build To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-310/+bug/1166007/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
