Public bug reported: 1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System -> About Ubuntu 12.10 32bit
2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy pkgname' or by checking in Software Center postgres-xc* 1.0.0-2 3) What you expected to happen When uninstalling it, to remove the user: postgres-xc, and to change the owner of /var/run/postgresql back to "postgres" 4) What happened instead It left the user in the system, and the owner of that folder as postgres-xc. This caused confusion as I did not intend to install the -xc package. Thus when trying this command: sudo -u postgres pg_ctlcluster 9.1 main start I received this output: The PostgreSQL server failed to start. Please check the log output: 2013-04-05 14:34:57 PDT FATAL: could not create lock file "/var/run/postgresql/.s.PGSQL.5432.lock": Permission denied Once I changed the owner manually back to postgres, things worked fine. ** Affects: postgres-xc (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1165226 Title: uninstallation negates to remove user postgres-xc, and change permissions of /var/run/postgresql To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/postgres-xc/+bug/1165226/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
