What we want to know is whether the CUPS problem shown in comment #3 is
reproducibly preventing you from installing Kubuntu 13.04. As you want
to do a fresh install it is no problem for you to repeat it without any
losses. So please do the fresh install again. Format the drive with ext4
and let the installation go. Do you get the exact same problem again?

Brian, can you guide Simon that he supplies the correct data to find out
whether his installation always fails with the same problem?
