After the last set of updates I have had a problem getting Ubuntu to
shut down. It will not restart or shutdown. The shutdown selection
goes to the main login screen. Trying to shutdown from the login screen
does nothing. Executing "shutdown" in as root from a terminal cause the
computer to hang on the Ubuntu ..... screen. Ubuntu 12.10 on an Intel
i3 processor. The shutdown worked before the last round of updates.
