Seems I can now use the keyboard settings dialog to assign Alt+^ to the "switch windows of an application" entry in the shortcuts tab/navigation. Then it works.
To clairfy: the following dconf DEFAULT settings in org.gnome.desktop.wm.keybindings do NOT work: switch-group ['<Alt>Above_Tab'] switch-group-backwards ['<Shift><Alt>Above_Tab'] neither for forward nor backward windows switching. Curiously, in this cae, the keyboard settings dialog says that "Switch windows of an application" is "Disabled". However, the following custom settings in org.gnome.desktop.wm.keybindings DO work: switch-group ['<Alt>asciicircum'] switch-group-backwards ['<Shift><Alt>Above_Tab'] Curiously, no matter what switch-group-backwards is set to, <shift><alt>asciicircum will work for backward switching whenever switch-group is set to <alt>asciicircum. However the field is not ignored either, since I can i.e. set switch-group-backwards to '<Shift><Alt>y' which is then recognizes as an additional shortcut for window backward switching. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1000877 Title: Alt+` (Alt+[key above tab]) doesn't work in gnome shell after precise upgrade To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1000877/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
