Hi, Thanks for your quick response. Would have checked things out quicker but life gets in the way sometimes. Would have thouth linux-headers-generic would have been installed as part of the build from the iso? Checked through synaptic. linux-headers generic not installed so installed and rebooted into ubuntu. Still no task bar/unity. Only able to select anything on desktop, not able to switch between applications (alt/tab) ctrl/alt/f1 and stopped/started lightdm back into gnome-panel(no effects) to check synaptic and update this log. linux-headers-generic ok in synaptic Have also tried switching driver (Software Sources/Additional drivers) but still not working. motherboard is GA-55M-DS2 with onboard Radeon graphics which I think is model 6410
