I don't think this bug should be on a "wishlist" status, it removes significant functionality from people with a widescreen monitor.
For example, my grandfather's computer running Feisty has a vt3230 chipset and a widescreen LCD monitor. Because the vt3230 chipset is unsupported (despite what the package description says) he can't use a widescreen resolution, because the vesa driver does not support widescreen. I suspect many other people have this problem and it's big enough to drive people away from Ubuntu.
