Confirmed in gutsy tribe 3 using i386 alternate cd default install.  I
don't understand this bug;  the drive works for installation, and some
other people apparently have the drive working the whole time.  My MBP
is a 15" santa rosa, 2.4 GHz and 256MB VRAM, week 29 manufacture.  USA
version.  I did not try the piix fix.
