Public bug reported: This is a duplicate of bug #669779, which was closed due to inactivity without being fully resolved.
I have a ThinkPad X40 running 11.10 and an Ultrabase X4. When I dock or undock, using either the undock button on the side of the Ultrabase or the Fn-F9 ACPI key command, the system drops to console and a band of graphical noise, similar to what you'd see if you dumped data straight to the framebuffer, shows up at the top of the screen, and a string of random data is visible after the console prompt. The system won't accept input until I switch to a virtual console with Ctrl-Alt-F1, then back to the X console with Ctrl-Alt-F7, at which point everything continues functioning correctly. It seems like this could be resolved with a script? This is my first bug report, so I'm not sure what other info would be helpful.
