While removing a logical volume using "lvchange" and "lvremove". lvchange --available n /dev/<volgroup name>/<vol name> lvremove /dev/<volgroup name>/<vol name> The logical volume is left as an empty directory in "/dev/<volgroup name>/<vol name>".
