Ubuntu version: 12.04 Server 64 bit
Kernel version: 3.2.0-35-virtual
Packages used: lvm2, xfsprogs

While removing a logical volume using "lvchange" and "lvremove".
lvchange --available n /dev/<volgroup name>/<vol name>
lvremove /dev/<volgroup name>/<vol name>
