We just upgraded from 10.04 to 12.04 and subsequently our nightly backup
of ldap database reports the same error as this bug report.

Our backup script run from root's crontab is

/usr/sbin/slapcat -F /etc/ldap/slapd.d -l /root/system/ldap.ldif

the error reported is

51256a8a olcDbDirectory: value #0: invalid path: No such file or directory
51256a8a config error processing olcDatabase={2}hdb,cn=config: olcDbDirectory:
value #0: invalid path: No such file or directory
slapcat: bad configuration directory!

the database structure is

/var/lib/ldap
/var/lib/ldap/accesslog

meanwhile

#slaptest -u
config file testing succeeded
