I am having the similar issue while installing dropbox (dropbox
integration for nautilus).
Package operation failed
The installation or removal of software package failed.
Details
dpkg: regarding .../dropbox_1.4.0_i386(1).deb containing dropbox:
dropbox breaks nautilus-dropbox (<< 1.4.0)
nautilus-dropbox (version 0.7.1-2) is present and installed.
dpkg: error processing /home/jeevan/Downloads/dropbox_1.4.0_i386(1).deb
(--install):
installing dropbox would break nautilus-dropbox, and
deconfiguration is not permitted (--auto-deconfigure might help)
