Public bug reported: Firefox will not open in raring when you click on the icon in the launcher. It will however open when you execute firefox from the command line.
I noticed that when you click on the icon it creates a defunct process. $ ps -A|grep firefox 24939 ? 00:00:01 firefox 24943 ? 00:00:00 firefox <defunct> I also see this message in the xsession errors: (process:24939): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_slice_set_config: assertion `sys_page_size == 0' failed (firefox:24939): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: cannot register existing type `GdkWindow' (firefox:24939): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_once_init_leave: assertion `result != 0' failed (firefox:24939): Gdk-CRITICAL **: gdk_window_get_display: assertion `GDK_IS_WINDOW (window)' failed ### ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.04 Package: firefox 19.0~b5+build1-0ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.8.0-5.10-generic 3.8.0-rc6 Uname: Linux 3.8.0-5-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia AddonCompatCheckDisabled: False ApportVersion: 2.8-0ubuntu4 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USER PID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC1: nick 1902 F.... pulseaudio /dev/snd/controlC0: nick 1902 F.... pulseaudio BuildID: 20130206204007 Channel: Unavailable Date: Tue Feb 12 09:51:42 2013 ExecutablePath: /usr/lib/firefox/firefox ForcedLayersAccel: False IfupdownConfig: auto lo iface lo inet loopback InstallationDate: Installed on 2012-04-07 (310 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS "Precise Pangolin" - Beta amd64 (20120328) IpRoute: default via 192.168.1.1 dev wlan0 proto static 169.254.0.0/16 dev wlan0 scope link metric 1000 192.168.1.0/24 dev wlan0 proto kernel scope link src 192.168.1.110 metric 9 MarkForUpload: True PrefSources: prefs.js [Profile]/extensions/{b9db16a4-6edc-47ec-a1f4-b86292ed211d}/defaults/preferences/prefs-dwhelper.js ProcEnviron: PATH=(custom, no user) XDG_RUNTIME_DIR=<set> LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash Profiles: Profile0 (Default) - LastVersion=19.0/20130206204007 (In use) RelatedPackageVersions: totem-mozilla 3.6.3-0ubuntu2 rhythmbox-mozilla 2.98-0ubuntu3 RunningIncompatibleAddons: False SourcePackage: firefox UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to raring on 2013-02-11 (0 days ago) dmi.bios.date: 10/18/2011 dmi.bios.vendor: Dell Inc. dmi.bios.version: A08 dmi.board.name: 032T9K dmi.board.vendor: Dell Inc. dmi.board.version: A01 dmi.chassis.type: 9 dmi.chassis.vendor: Dell Inc. dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnDellInc.:bvrA08:bd10/18/2011:svnDellInc.:pnLatitudeE6420:pvr01:rvnDellInc.:rn032T9K:rvrA01:cvnDellInc.:ct9:cvr: dmi.product.name: Latitude E6420 dmi.product.version: 01 dmi.sys.vendor: Dell Inc. ** Affects: firefox (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug raring running-unity ** Description changed: Firefox will not open in raring when you click on the icon in the launcher.
