Hi Christopher, I updated my BIOS to A13 and I can confirm that the bug still exists in Ubuntu 12.04 i386 and it produces the same problems.
One of the threads suggested that this issue was repaired in Linux Mint Debian, so I installed it for testing, but it produces the same symptoms.
