but I hope the following will answer your question:

1) It doesn't add value to my use case
2) It increases complexity
3) It seems to introduce a tight coupling to a non-related component (upstart)
4) Have you ever looked at the number of google results for searches of "remove 
plymouth"?

4) might be a bit temperamental, but I have a hard time believing that
you are unaware of the loads upon loads of questions about how to
disable/uninstall Plymouth unless you provide me with hard evidence that
there is a policy of "disregard negative comments at all cost" going on,
and that is not my usual experience...
