So it seems that it doesn't give a black screen all the time. Output
from lspci is as follows:

I've included three logs. the first *.nv is from the first attempt where
X actually started. The sencond, *nv2 is from my next reboot, where it
did show a black screen. The last log is from an attempt at installing
the Binary nvidia driver from their site. (which also failed)
