I think, please do fresh installation from "http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install.html". If your distro is Ubuntu, suse, debian, linux mint or fedora, then follow Auto Installation (http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install/install/index.html) Otherwise go for Manual Installation.
