Public bug reported: Although an installed Ubuntu system supports HDMI, the Ubuntu installer does not appear to support HDMI at all, so any system with only an HDMI monitor effectively cannot have Ubuntu manually installed on it. Oddly, the boot menu shows up on an HDMI monitor, but selecting any option (e.g. "Install Ubuntu") causes the screen to go completely black, after which nothing appears.
I encountered this problem on a Dell Inspiron 660s while attempting to install Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. Strangely, the Mythbuntu installer works perfectly fine with HDMI... ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1106416 Title: Unable to install Ubuntu when using an HDMI monitor To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1106416/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
