What do you mean by extremely buggy? Did you file bug reports for the
bugs you found? It does not make sense to upgrade to the latest version
from the repository. The version in the repository has been tested
during the testing period. You are, however, free to upgrade to the
latest version by using the repository given by virtualbox here for
Debian based
distributions.https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Linux_Downloads
