Before filing the bug upstream, I wanted to ensure that I see the
corruption also with all addons disabled.  But I don't: after I had
disable all addons, I didn't see any corruption for two weeks.  Then I
reenabled one of the many versions of the weather extension and the
corruption reappeared on next login.

So I'm currently suspecting that this extension is the culprit.
