Hi everybody,

I had exactly the same problem and I fixed it.

My laptop asus n71jq was always freezing (several times a day). Even
CTRL+ALT+SysRq REISUB was not working.
It has two hard drives with dual boot:
 - one with kubuntu 12.10 and kernel 3.5.0-19
 - one with windows seven (on an ntfs partition).
Because I also had an overheating issue (solved with my vacuum cleaner),
it crashed a few times and windows file system had many errors (asking me
tu run chkdsk)
I was not using windows very often so I didn't care about the errors and I
always cancelled chkdsk.

On Kubuntu, the windows partition was mounted at start up.
I believe that the file system errors on the NTFS partition were probably
causing the freezes.

After I ran chkdsk on windows partition, I didn't have any more freeze.
NTFS support on Linux is probably not as reliable as on Windows.
I hope it can help one of you.

Best regards,
Emmanuel
