Samething here on Ubuntu 12.04, ibus 1.4.1 The ibus-indicator in the panel cannot be used to change input methods with the mouse. However, (Ctrl + Space) to toggle ibus on/off and (Shift_left + Alt) to cycle through different input-methods works reliably. The only use of the ibus-indicator so far is the changing icon to identify which input-method is activated.
