Paolo - would you mind help pin-pointing the solution? I can confirm that the BIOS update on its own DOES NOT solve the problem (neither kernel 3.6.6-030606-generic nor 3.5.0-19-generic #30-Ubuntu above).
There must be something else besides just the BIOS upgrade and the reset pin; did you do anything else, for example: log into windows after the bios upgrade, change a bios settings, installed another package/driver, etc? Also, can you confirm your laptop version is 900xB? BTW: Resetting the battery (using a pin in the hole on the back of the laptop) temporarily solves the charge/discharge detection; this has always been the case (with all BIOS versions since I bought the laptop). The lid detection never worked, though. - Aviram On Sat, Dec 1, 2012 at 5:00 AM, paolo.mgi <986...@bugs.launchpad.net> wrote: > I am running 12.10 with BIOS P04AAC and Kernel > > 3.6.6-030606-generic #201211050512 SMP x86_64 GNU/Linux from UpUbuntu > > which fixes for me bug #971061.
