Unfortunately we can't proceed without some details of what has crashed
and where. If there are no helpful files in /var/crash then let's start
with what has crashed...
Next time the problem occurs please:
1. Switch to a virtual terminal: Ctrl+Alt+F1 and log in
2. Run these commands:
pidof gtk-window-decorator
pidof compiz
Do they both return a result?
