The reason for this is that the Debian package maintainer does not clean the package very well -- it also has a large diff against the .orig.tar.gz file. If you would prefer, I could narrow down the diff to just the debian/ directory, but then it wouldn't be the full "debdiff" output against my actual package -- should still work fine though.
