KTorrent had become unusable for me since upgrade to Ubuntu Precise (my last
successful KTorrent downloads date to May 27th, and after that I upgraded to
Precise on May 31st)
After that, what I notice, is a very slow GUI redraw when I resize KTorrent
window or click on any its GUI control (several minutes to see the actual
redraw); and little or no network activity at all. There could be some network
activity and normal GUI redraw soon after initial start of KTorrent, but very
quickly after that, it comes to the stall in both GUI and network.
I have two systems with KTorrent, both behaving identically. On each system I
have about 20..30 downloads in KTorrent list. Some of them had been completed
with earlier KTorrent version, some of them started partially and were unable
to finish after KTorrent update, some of them initiated under new KTorrent but
were unable to move anywhere further. Also, completed downloads are not seeding
(and this is important for keeping my rating on some Torrent sites)
One of my two system was updated to Quantal and then to Raring but this only
helped very little with KTorrent (it is able to open a .torrent file and start
the download, but not complete it).
Please ask me for any additional information on this topic.
I heard there could be problems related to DBus or KDEd. How should I diagnose
or work around them ?
Should I replace KTorrent with rtorrent or other BitTorrent implementation ?
