I'm testing a new version of the driver, now there is no workaround
needed to eliminate the crackling sound. If you wanna help me and give
me a feedback please use the package for Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal from here:

you have to remove all the previous workarounds:
sudo update-rc.d -f amixer-master-mute remove
sudo rm /etc/init.d/amixer-master-mute
sudo rm /etc/pm/power.d/intel-audio-powersave
sudo rm /usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d/01PulseAudio
