Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

Please could you confirm how long you've waited for the client to time
out, and whether you have tried to send any data from the client or if
you are expecting it to time out on its own?

ssh_config(5) indicates that by default TCP keepalives are enabled, and
on my system it looks like Linux won't default to timing out on TCP
keepalives for at least two hours and eleven minutes
(tcp_keepalive_time=7200, tcp_keepalive_intvl=75,
tcp_keepalive_probes=9). Have you waited this long?

Additionally, are you aware of the ServerAliveInterval (and/or
ClientAliveInterval on the server side) option?

Please could you also clarify if the bug that you are reporting is that
you want the default timeout options changed, the timeout tuning options
don't work, or something else?

** Changed in: openssh (Ubuntu)
       Status: New => Incomplete
