It happens the same to me. When I upgraded from Breezy to Dapper, my portable 
USB Disk didn't work anymore. This is the ouptut that appears with "dmesg":

My device is a FRECOM Hard Drive with a size of 20 GB. It works perfect
with Windows XP.
